National Media Commission Act (Act 449)

Education Act (Act 778)

Annotation of Afro Feminist Principles While this Act, for the most part, focuses on the legal framework for electronic transactions, it does not directly address gender or include provisions that directly consider the principles of inclusivity specified through gender or sex data. The language used speaks of individuals in general. Overall it highlights principles of access to information and safety.

General Annotation This Act provides for the regulation of electronic communications, the regulation of broadcasting, the use of the electro-magnetic spectrum and for related matters.

Annotation of Afro Feminist Principles In this Act, gender issues and/specific needs of women in electronic communication are not directly/explicitly addressed. Hence the Afro Feminist principles are not directly addressed and incorporated in the Act. The language used generalises its approach using persons, individuals in its reflection. Arguably women are captured as ‘persons’ and ‘individuals’ however it is important to note that their experiences and realities are nuanced in applicability. However the Act details principles of privacy and data anchored on the feminist principles of the internet.

Data Protection Act

General Annotation This Act establishes a Data Protection Commission, to protect the privacy of the individual and personal data by regulating the processing of personal information, to provide the process to obtain, hold, use or disclose personal information and for related matters

Annotation of Afro Feminist Principles This instrument provides the Afro-Feminist principles of Privacy, Consent, Accessibility, Governance - although captured generally for all individuals.
